We are happy to announce the 7th Sub-Regional European Astronomical Committee (SREAC) meeting and the joined Awareness conference on “Hot topics in Astrophysics”, which will be held in Ohrd, Republic of Macedonia, from September 25th to 27th, 2016. This conference is organised and finacially supported by Optical Infrared Co-ordination Network for astronomy (OPTICON FP7) in cooperation with the Institute of Physics, Faculty of Science, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University from Skopje and Macedonian Astronomical Society.
The conference intends to present the Hot topics in Astrophysics, from Planetary Systems to Cosmology with open questions both for theoreticians, and for observers. It is intended for PhD Students, Post-Docs, or Senior astronomers. Last year’s Master students, with a good background in astrophysics or optical engineering can be selected too. Participation in the conference is by invitation only.
The Sub-Regional European Astronomical Committee (SREAC) was established in May 2004 in Bucharest within the framework of the UNESCO “Enhancing astronomical research and observation in South-East Europe and Ukraine” project with as a main objective to elaborate and implement a sub-regional strategy for the development of astronomy in South East Europe and Ukraine.
The main objective of SREAC is to elaborate and implement a sub-regional strategy for the development of astronomy in South-East Europe and Ukraine and to strengthen astronomical co-operation in the sub-region, and between the region and countries outside.”
